The AP in charge of curriculum threw me a bone on Friday when she mentioned that the current Creative Writing teacher was moving to the IB department and that she ‘thought’ I’d be teaching writing next year. I’ve practically been BEGGING for the chance since my employment interview - both overtly and covertly.

My very-close-to-perfect fiance is from Goiania, Brasil and there’s a good chance we’ll be spending lots of summers there since I am a teacher. His entire immediate family is here in the US, and they all speak English, but I’d like to be a part of the dinner conversations when we eat with other friends and family.

I re-entered college as a 35 year old non-traditional student. I finished over 120 credit hours and earned my BA in English/Creative Writing in 18 months and 20 days! I am very proud of this accomplishment and of my 3.5+ GPA. I am currently teaching English at an “urban” high school in Florida. Going back to school was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
