How I did it: I followed the advice of Dr. Paul McKenna on food: eating only when I'm hungry, stopping the minute I feel slightly full, eating what I want, eating slowly. I also took to a variety of daily exercise (cardio, weighlifting, spinning class), and always drinking lots of water. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I stopped worrying about whether to eat before or after cardio. I ate and went. That's what worked in my schedule - instead of home-gym-home-work, I freed myself to do home-gym-work.I got very tough with the "quitter" "stay in bed" voice in my head - QUICKLY swearing (in my mind) the little imp away whenever it would offer me the easy out at 5 am.I saw that if daily hour of exercise was ok for the President and President-elect… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I guess the first things were going to therapy - my therapist echoed the advice of Don Miguel Ruiz's Four Agreements book on not taking things as personally. To learn to expect that others will try to use words against me, often from a place of pain in their own lives, and often having little or nothing to do with what I'm doing. Not to go to the opposite extreme where I don't care what people say (and that's the "so" part that I hold on to… Read how I did it…
Progress on this goal had stalled – two contributing factors: lack of activity and emotional eating.
I count as a positive that I did not “revert” – did not gain back. Just stalled at -35 pounds.
I have “piled up” some motivators to push through the last 25 pounds of flab (which will actually make this overall goal more like lose 60 pounds). This includes an activity monitor (Philips DirectLife) to make sure I’m getting off of my keister enough, reminding myself to only eat when I’m hungry, and I’ve made a bet with a co-worker for $100 for whoever can lose the most percentage-wise by year’s end (16 weeks roughly.)
225 pounds, here I come!
