After doing some reseacrh on this, I found to my horror that scenic and sleeper traintrips are horribly expensive, $10,000 expensive. Although as luck would have it, a week after finding out this daunting fact, I stumbled across a competetion in my local papaer where the first prize is a weeklong train trip to melbourne and back.
Its not exactly what I had in mind but the accomadation is first class and the train has sleepers :)
I collected three coupons and am mailing them in tomorrow. The competition is draw on the 15th so fingers crossed!!!!
