So I made it to the DMV in Slidell today and found out:
1. They close at 4:00 PM. Seriously, I was still in there and they put a cubby-hole wood thingie in front of the door so no one else could get inside the office.
2. You don’t just need a drivers’ license, proof of insurance, a “Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin” for your car (proves that it was built by someone, seriously), and a Bill of Sale, you ALSO need a lien notice for your car, showing your payment schedule.
So although it’s your car, you can legally drive it, it was manufactured by someone, and it was sold to you, you can’t register it unless you can show exactly how you’re paying for it.
