Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

fix up my apartment (read all 2 entries…)

I have painted! My living room is now baby blue, and looks so much better. I have to paint the bedroom and bathroom now, but I am so excited. My place is finally starting to feel like a home.

Poison Ivy

I cosplayed at Dragon Con for the first time ever this past weekend. It was AMAZING!! I was Poison Ivy and my friend Dana was Harley Quinn. It was so much fun, and I can’t wait to do it again. My costume took a month to put together and it turned out great. I got a lot of compliments. :) I am excited trying to plan what I want to do next. Definitely do this!!!!

go to dragon*con

Things are coming together and I will be able to go this year! Getting together a little group and carpooling from FL. I can’t wait to see the parade, and I will be cosplaying for the first time ever at the con. I am a bit nervous about that, but more excited than anything. See you all there! :)

have a garden (read all 2 entries…)
Little by little.

So my sage is still growing, although slowly. I have three little basil plants, one shot up right away, the other two are a bit slower. I was given an aloe plant for my birthday, and it is doing wonderfully! About a month ago, I started a pineapple plant and its seems to be taking. I am so excited! :) Next I am going to start a plumeria tree.

Find a Good Psychologist. (read all 2 entries…)
A little bit of self discovery.

I have finally found a good psychologist. She is open, nurturing, and encouraging. I feel like I have discovered so many new things about myself in such a short time. The reading suggestions she made alone were pivotal for me. It gives me a lot of hope for myself. _ If you have been wondering about it, just go! You may have to take some time to find the right person, but the most important thing to remember is, you have to be the one to do the work. You have to put in 100%. Although it is not easy by any means, I am glad I have begun this journey.

learn to belly dance
A single step.

I have finally started this little journey of 1000 miles! I am so proud of myself, I finally went and took my first bellydancing class!! :) Some coworkers went along with me and we are going to start going regularly. It was such a great experience, I have LOTS to learn but I’m so glad I have begun. This is definitely going to be a big part of my life, and a great motivator. I am going to be sore tomorrow! :)

find out what my blood type is

A friend of mine got me an Eldon kit, and I was able to test my blood type today! I am B+, which is apparently 10% of the population. I have begun reading the ‘Eat Right for your Type’ book which is really interesting. Now I will have to try fixing my diet to see if it helps at all. _

stop picking my skin
Old habits die hard.

Good to know I’m not the only one who does this. I do whenever I am stressed, even before I notice the stress myself. Sometimes I don’t even notice until I have done so much damage to my fingers that its embarrassing. I stopped biting my nails years ago, and now I need to quit picking! >.<

Write a wish... tie to a balloon... let it go
Well wishes and hopes.

I did do this, spontaneously one day with the one I love. We wrote wishes, and quotes and poems and tied them to a few balloons and let them go. It was such a sweet experience. I don’t know if anyone ever found any of our little messages, but its kind of nice that way. _

learn an instrument

I have only ever played the flute, and that was ages ago. I have always wanted to learn to play drums. At this rate though, I would love to learn any instrument. I just want to make music!

have a garden (read all 2 entries…)

I have wanted to have a garden for a long time, so finally I got myself a little tomato plant, and started some herbs from scratch. I have some catnip, sage, and spearmint growing already, and I am so excited. I can’t wait to see what comes up next. _

learn reiki

I have been interested in learning this healing technique ever since I had it used on me about ten years ago. Although temporary, its effects were immediate and intense. I want to learn how to do this well for myself, my pets, and my loved ones. I have been attuned to Reiki 1 but I have so much to learn. It has been hard for me to understand the basics of it, so its going to be a tough process, but I am excited. _

Visit Naples and eat at Pizzeria da Michele
Likely the best pizza in the world...

Pizza was invented in Naples, and Pizzeria da Michele is described as the best in Naples, so it must be the best in the world! Read Liz Gilberts description of it in her (amazing) book, “Eat, Pray, Love.”
