Most of my friends around here are teachers, or are married and working full time, or both. Finding people to hang around with on whatever day I can has gotten alot harder over the years. The past two months, I’ve gone to the movies on more than one occassion all on my own. It was suprisingly exhilerating not being tied to another person, but I do have to admit that I missed chatting with someone about the previews and whatnot. Next, I plan to become comfortable with dining by myself.

How I did it: I ended up going with my University. I would recommend finding programs through collegs and Universities, and after that, look around at different travel websites. Sometimes you can find a great deal. Read how I did it…
So in my quest to become more comfortable in the kitchen, I’ve been volunteering to cook whenever possible. So we come to this morning. I’ve had friends and family in town, and this morning before my friend Megan headed out I offered to make breakfast for everyone. Nothing special- eggs, biscuits, (precooked) sausage, and bacon. And upon starting breakfast I realized I’ve never made bacon. Sure I’ve helped cook breakfast a number of times, sure I’ve seen it done before, but I realized I had never made bacon. So my first piece..burnt to an unrecognizable crisp. The next piece, crispy…very crispy, but not burnt. By the end of making bacon I think I got the hang of it.
Everything else was a breeze to make, but it just made me realize another hole in my cooking abilities. Namely, breakfast. I don’t really eat breakfast, I don’t really like breakfast. So I guess from now on I’ll be making breakfast for people whenever I have company. Any thoughts on good breakfast items to make? (ps. I hate pancakes…I can make them, and waffles, but I really hate pancakes)
Ok…yesterday was the first day in this. I went up to Nashville to visit a friend and we walked the mile path around one of the parks there. If everyday could be that easy, but, alas, I know I need to do more extensive type exercises to get into shape. So today, when I get home from work, I plan to really work out. I hope it goes well and I can stay motivated…
