Yeah! Another one accomplished!
So in my latest adventure I decided to learn how to spin using fire poi. So I enrolled in the beginning fire poi class at The Crucible in Oakland. The Crucible is a industrial and fire arts collective and studio, its a huge place, a great place to learn from knowledgeable artists, and a great place to network and collab. You might have seen it featured in a local bay area newspaper, or on Mythbusters…its a cool place…im biased…I volunteer there. Ok onward!
I came willin and ready to learn to the second session…i missed the first due to working late night at the school for the spring production. When i entered the upstairs studio i was was greeted with a few people swinging stripe socks around and a welcoming smile from the instructor. She introduced herself as Scottie. She gave me the funny looking pair of stripe socks, two smaller nudie socks, and two cups of lentils. I assembled my practice poi.
The classes began with rotational work, changing directions, walking with the poi in motion, tricks like the butterfly, and so forth. Each of the class meetings got me working up a little sweat which is awesome, it is such a workout for the core and arms! ohh and i was so glad we practiced with anything but the real thing…because of the many times I hit myself only to sing soprano…luckily i played it off and was pretty sure no one was watching (yeah right! they were probably giggling and thinking there were magnets in between my legs).
All in all this was an enjoyable experience, with a little bit more practice ill be comfortable with the real fire set…im playing around with the led and color light set which is wicked cool. Ohh…hey! So I was watching Mythbusters the other day…lo and behold! I see Scottie the teacher hottie! So apparently Scottie is an awesome fabricator and welder that has worked with the Mythbuster crew several times…thats hot! Woman that can dance with fire, cut with fire, weld, fabricate, and still look cute in boots…awesome.
Get off your but and learn! Stop saying you will..just go and do it!

I went down to San Diego to visit and hang out with my siblings the first week of May. I was totally in the mood for finding new places to eat and surf. We went to several spots that whole weekend but this spot would have to be in my top three.
The goods: Awesome cozy little spot with a nice vibe…especially at night. It was about 9pmish when we (about 6 of us) were kindly greeted as we walked in with empty stomachs. Right after we were seated we were greeted by a charming and foxy brunette (ehh its part of the vibe) she got us our drinks within 5 mins. Throughout the night our drinks never touched bottom except when we rushed them down only to try to talk to the attractive gal (so we cheated..hey it was to test the quality of service!). I ordered the MonteCristo, my sibs went for PotPie, Fish n Chips, Samson’s Steak Sandwich, Boob Sandwich, and the San Diegan! The portions were large enough for us to not be able to finish (the Fish n Chips was actually a full out fish the size of my brothers forearm!). The food was tasty and full of flavor not crap food. Seriously this is a comfort food type of place cause when left I felt happy, sleepy, and fat. Price wise it compares to a Denny’s maybe a dollar or two more…but it has so much charm and a cool vibe. A nice spot to share a dessert or meal with friends, family, or your significant other (to butter them up…if you know what I mean!). Check it out!
This was my first trip away from my family. Ohh man! I enjoyed this experience soooo much. As a freshman in high school my eyes were opened to travel and a bit of independence. I flew on the airplane for the first time and got some wings, and peanuts…bought fireworks in Ensenada Mexico…biked Catalina Island…drank Khalua and milk at sea…ate escargo (i think)...yeh…let me think about it…
I think that I may have been addicted to gambling but I have fought the constant temptation of buying scratchers and lotto tickets each day. It had to be between having a lunch to eat that day or eating the losing lotto tickets from the days before. Hey! But I know something…Im a winner…well at least me and my brothers are winners… we have actually won about $300 in prize money from many different games. But..uhh…I bravely and like the addict that I am, “reinvested” most of the money back into “education” (yeah lotto somehow supports education). But yeah…its been a while but i know how to hold back the urge of itching and scratching lotto games.
Enjoyed it loved it. Expanded my mind. I need to brush up and retake classes.

Did it!!! B.A. in Fine Arts from CSUHayward 2002. It was worth it. You cannot become a teacher in the U.S. without it…well you also need a teaching credential. The upper division classes were the best part. When you are doing something tat you love to do…time rolls by so quickly. enjoy!
Cold turkey…yeah…like 3 times. But its been since 2000 I think. Yeah…now the smell of menthol cigarettes makes me want to hurl or defecate. Im glad for so many reasons to be off and away from smoking. My asthma is also gone…caused by smoking? Good luck folds!
Im working on slimming down. I was fed up with my physical state. Being tired all the time, having health related problems stemming or due to my weight and overall health. Ive topped off at a size 42 waist at 275 pounds…now im 38 waist and 240 pounds…im heading to 34/36 waist and 180 pounds.
Awesome!!! I learned…just to learn. But now that i have a motorcycle i actually use it to get to and from a lot of local places including work and the city. I enjoy the diamond lane and not having to pay toll on bridges during commuting hours. Its exciting to ride and see other cyclists wave or say hi because you are part of a community. Just ride safe! Ive seen my share of motorcycle accidents that did not look very favorable for the cyclist involved. Ehh!!! Remember to be a responsible and smart cyclist…you can cause accidents for yourself and other innocent people…so be careful!!!
