Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Find my birth father
big break

I received some good clues today on the quest to find my dad…pretty excited about that. :]

reshape my body
To clarify..

I think I have a nice body, but I would like to have a figure with well-defined curves. I’m not doing this for anyone else.. just me. It’s what I prefer. I think that’s the most important part.

Be a resource for victims of domestic violence
Starting to feel stronger about this as the days pass...

Found a website today: http://www.nycservice.org/ that has plenty of volunteer opportunities. The only thing that is holding me back right now is settling into my new career because I want to make sure that I am able to commit. Really looking forward to being a part of this though..and would love to make a difference in several people’s lives, show them that there is hope out there.

get a masters degree
So many doors...

So many doors can open for you, if you utilize the education properly and choose a good program. I didn’t learn the most from academics, but rather about myself, the people and world around me, organizational structure, how to market and present myself.. etc.

find at least one thing each day that makes me happy and record it everyday for a year (read all 3 entries…)
Day #3

Feeling so accomplished right now!! At the start of the day, my room looked absolutely horrendous because I turned it inside out trying to look for things.. Well I spent the entire day reorganizing everything, found exactly what I was looking for and more, and now my room looks amazing!! Perseverance was definitely key.. :]

make a friend from every continent
:)

I guess this one shouldn’t be too hard if you are in a diverse college

have my picture in the newspaper
It's motivational

Have the picture hanging next to my bed with a dreamcatcher :p I was part of a competition and it captures my focus in the pressure of the moment.

regret nothing
As the old adage goes...

There’s no use crying over spilt milk. All you can do is learn from your “mistakes” and move forward.

stand up to a bully
Always remember..

Those with the loudest mouths and those who feel the need to constantly prey on the emotions of others are often the most insecure.

take public transportation more often
$$$

It’s a sacrifice…but the $$$ I’m saving is worth it for the time I’m exchanging.

Meet someone famous that I respect
I've done this 2x...

The first time it was worth it. He was so down-to-earth and real. The second time (a different person), I felt so let down and actually lost a lot of respect for the person. Conceited and full of himself.

Overall, I would say it is worth it though. It makes for experiences to remember.. ;)

drink less soda
you will notice a HUGE difference...

Your body will feel so much better.. it is totally worth it. We put enough crap into our bodies as it is so eliminating soda can give you the encouragement to remove other toxins from your diet.. Go for it!!

Day #2

Planned my birthday party today…over a month in advance. I don’t think I’ve ever planned it this early before. Proud of myself and excited for the date!!!! :]

Day #1

Today I wrote a letter to my friend’s mom, which is something I have been meaning to do for a while. My friend passed away a couple years ago around Christmas and I still have not come to terms with it. I did not get to attend his funeral and I still have not been to his grave. Reaching out to his mom is very therapeutic, because she is such a warm and caring individual—just like her son was. I’m happy I have the courage to begin contacting her again!

Use a Ouija board and successfully make contact
Not good...

I have a lot of creepy stories—you can private message me if you’re interested. Don’t mess with it if you’re not ready to deal with the possible consequences!!

Hug Immortal Technique
Untitled

He is easy to approach and awesome! You won’t regret it :]

Get my belly button pierced
It's nice in the beginning....

It was nice in the beginning because it was something new and exciting. After a while, it did get a bit annoying when sitting in certain positions, or if you wanna dance or workout. One day I decided to take it out for a little while…one day turned into three days… It closed up pretty quickly in those few days but there has been a permanent mark ever since and the hole will never close 100%. I don’t think I would get it re-pierced. My cousin also has one and she says she notices it is slowly stretching out the top of her belly button (making it look elongated) which I personally think is unattractive and gross lol.
