Any road bike recommendations?

Hey Folks,

Am in the market for a new bike following the theft of my age-old mountain bike, but this time I think I’m going to go and nab a road bike.

Would love it if anyone had any recommendations on a good model for between $500-$1000.

(Am hoping that’s not an insanely low price to ask for new. Perhaps EBay or Craig’s List would be a good clearing house for a used bike at the price range I’m looking for.)

fast for 21 days
Fasted for 24 Days

Hey folks, did the Master Cleanse (Lemonade Diet) for 24 days in May and it was a wonderful experience.

Thought it was lunacy when I heard about it, but a good friend of mine was on Day 25 when he spoke to me raving about it and I was impressed. He felt great, had tons of energy, and had dropped 25 pounds.

I went on it to get rid of “Daddy Weight” I’d gained while my wife was pregnant and to also improve my health and well-being and - this was key - to take on a practice that required extreme discipline to see if I could generate that for myself. In a world that’s screaming “eat food,” that does take something.

Anyhow, the first few days were mainly about getting used to not eating and, for me, noticing all the thinking about food (cooking, eating, what to eat, etc.) that normally goes on in the background that was now on loudspeaker.

The next chunk of days (through day 14) were great—really a moment-by-moment, day-to-day kind of experience.

Key Things to Deal With: At one point I got really, really bored with the lemonades. There were times when I was “weak-willed,” but I learned to listen to my body and noticed that in those moments, I was hungry. So, I’d have a lemonade. Moment would pass. There were days where I’d lose no weight at all, becoming discouraged with the fast. In those times, I’d just have a bit of faith, figuring if I was taking action, I’d ultimately have the result.

During the fast I exercised (spinning 60 minutes) 3-4 days a week with no loss of energy. Amazing.

The Results: Fasted for 24 days, lost 25lbs (more than expected) and about five years’ worth of weight. Felt great. Folks were amazed (I had, during the fast, only told a few folks about it). A number of people I knew went on it as a result. Profound sense of pride and accomplishment. Felt absolutely wonderful.

The Plan: Will be doing another 25 days starting next week. May become a vegetarian following.
