I started learning ballroom about a year and a half ago with my University’s (I’m a graduate student) ballroom dance club. I really enjoyed it.
I have a great guy now who was willing to sign up for dance lessons at Fred Astaire with me, and now I’m getting in a lot more practice!
I would love to get to the point where I could try competing somewhere…but that’s a long long way off :)

It is very easy for me to think of myself as “sensitive to others needs” or “agreeable” when really I am just trying to be everything everyone else wants me to be 100% of the time. It is more than a little ridiculous.
If everyone focused on what makes them most happy, wouldn’t we all just be better off?

I went to a relaxed local studio (one that didn’t require one of those scary, unforgiving leotards) and took my first lesson.
It was fantastic.
I was absolutely laughably horrendous, but it felt so good to be trying. Many of the students in my adult beginners class are people that took ballet as a child and are getting back now. They are not really beginners. They were very encouraging.
I can’t wait to go back!
