All things going well, I will be able to cross this one off my list by the end of the year. This is an email I received off our subject co-ordinator last week:
Dear GEOG 3000 students,
I want to let you know about an exciting optional fieldwork component available to students enrolled in the course and to gauge how many students would be interested.
With sufficient numbers, the fieldtrip will be held Sunday 3rd Oct – Saturday 9th October, 2010 (in the mid semester recess). In the trip we will visit and work with several Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory including in Arnhem Land. The main focus is for students to work on a project that has been identified by one of the Indigenous groups we’ll be meeting (i.e., doing an evaluation, creating an interpretive guide etc). The details are as follows:
Dates: The trip is for 7 days from Sunday 3rd Oct to Saturday 9th October (inclusive).
Cost: We are trying to keep the cost of the trip to $900. Plus you’ll need to get up to the Northern Territory (you need to cover this cost).
Accommodation and meals: Accommodation and meals will be provided during the time away i.e., Sunday lunch (2nd) through to and including Saturday (9th) breakfast. We will be camping in tents for most of the trip. In some instances, it will be quite basic. For example, there won’t be showers every night.
Me: very excited
