Was traveling in Singapore and stopped with colleagues at the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel, the present day iteration of the original Long Bar where the Singapore Sling was invented in the early 1900s.
The drink itself was less the standalone goal as the overall opportunity of being able to interact with such a great city. So it was the end of a long week of Asia travel, culminating in a historic, touristy drink, a Doors cover band, good conversation, 80 F degree ocean weather in December, closing the year with a toast to the year to come.

There was a sizable turnout (9) for this past weekend’s 43T Meetup! Thanks to everyone who was able to brave the disgustingly rainy weather to make it out and thanks to barbarino for the initial recommendation of the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club (EAYC) in L5P as a possible site: the side room was perfect for the group. Some incarnation or another of quesadillas became the popular item from the Yacht Club’s bar-food menu.
Thanks a ton to The Euclid Avenue Yacht Club for letting me seize a giant round table all to myself as the rest of the gang gradually rolled in. Thanks especially to our rad server who took our soon-to-be-posted group pic, and to the nice chef who wanted to make sure everyone’s quesadilla was, in fact, a high quality quesadilla.
Good things, those high quality quesadillas.
This 3rd 43T Meetup brought us all into the company of the likes of mingaling, Koukla_sou & husband, amymel, Aaron066, Gbear, and bluepark & husband. Those unable to make this one missed out on, among other things, a highly philosophical discussion about the benefits of karaoke. Everyone who made it was easygoing and it made for a very chill and entertaining night.
The award for “I’ve Made 100% of all the 43T-ATL Meetings of all Time” goes to Koukla_sou
As I will be accepting a position with work in Connecticut in March, this was my last official 43T Meetup for the ATL, but I hope to continue seeing it grow & hang out whenever I’m back in town! Gbear and mingaling have expressed interest in organizing the next one so everyone get your singing voices ready.
For those of you still deciding whether or not to come hang out, don’t even think twice. There’s a great group of unique and talented individuals just waiting to meet you and your 43 Things. We should be so lucky.
Good luck & keep going!
