...we went to see the Beautiful Girls at the Islington Academy last night and they were awesome. Mat McHugh, frontman, has a deep, soulful voice which works really well with the dub/reggae sounds coming from the rest of the band. Highlights were:
1. the drummer who looked like Noel Edmunds
2. the keyboard solo when the guy (sorry not sure of his name) went crazy writhing around the floor playing manic chords
3. the encore when Clay McDonald, the bassist, climbed up the lighting rigging and made ape noises from the top of the stage – hilarious.
Definitely have to get the album.

Also, I notice that no one else has this stupid goal (although there are probably many similar ones out there). I love cooking and think I am quite good at it. I cook every evening for me and my boyfriend when I get home from work, which is often quite late. My problem is that I am lazy and often use ready made sauces out of jars etc. I hate that I do this and am going to make a real effort to cook with ingredients from scratch. It means the dinner will take longer but the boyfriend will just have to wait. Am going to the supermarket on Saturday and so will start from then ….

It was great, it was my fourth year at University and I took a European Law and Human Rights based course (kind of geeky I know) at the University of Rennes in France. As all my lessons were in French, my language did improve a great deal, but I have lost a lot of that now. I am planning on going to Montpellier for two weeks in September and taking a French language and cookery cause…. but I haven’t booked it yet, not sure why. Guess I’m procrastinating. A very good example of something I have to do!
