Looks like I will not be able to run on Memorial day, at least not a race, I went to buy new running shoes at one of those places that does alot more than just tell you what size to buy, apparently I have really bad ankles and flat feet (which I guess I did know), I ended up buying running shoes with an insane amount of support in the arches and while running this morning found that it now uses an entirely different set of muscles along with hurting a bit now that everything is aligned pretty close to correct. They had told me to slowly build up to a run again to avoid injury so I guess I’ll do that.

How I did it: I had briefly tried to quit in the past, but never more than 2 weeks of hell while attempting it. This time I took a different approach, maybe some would consider it cheating, but it worked. I switched to Snus (spitless tobacco) until the urge for a smoke went away, then from there, quitting using the Snus was pretty easy as it was a low level of nicotine and also not nearly as socially acceptable. I'll never really be '… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I usually try 2-3 new beers a week at our local bar, they have a selection that changes a few times a week with pretty limited repeats. If there is an Old Chicago in your area they have a program with a card that will keep track of your beers also, finish 100 and you get your name on a plaque, not many Old Chicago restaruants around though. How I did it: It was something I wanted to do since I learned about it in health class in junior high, this was the first illicit drug I tried and enjoyed it even more than I would've imagined. Been many years ago, but it's something I'd do again in the right situation. Read how I did it…

Well, today is one month, which was my goal time on this. I was thinking about having a cigar to celebrate ;) ....anyways, my goal to knock this off my list was one month, I realize that I’ve never really quit and it will always be there, but I feel comfortable enough to take it off my list, at least for now so wish me continued strength and I’ll think of something to replace this goal. (I was kidding about the cigar too…)
Not much of an update just realized that I’d set an app on my iPhone that measures how much I’ve saved by not smoking for this long….$281.25, maybe not 100% accurate, but pretty close to it, not bad at all.
