I’ve always been seen as an outside threat, so to be able to take the ball to the rack adds a vital dimension to my game
Let’s face it: the Bible is a document that records how people envisioned God thousands of years ago. Adhering to those old-world beliefs have been the source of a lot of violence and mayhem in the world.
Like Joni sang, “We don’t need no piece of paper from the city hall.”
It doesn’t guarantee anything, it doesn’t = hapiness or lifelong commitment or kids or stability or anything else. What makes it wonderful, or awful, or deeply satisfying is the bond you have with that person.
So I guess in that regard it’s kind of like a threesome. It’s all about keeping your expectations realistic and choosing wisely and knowing very well who you’re getting into it with.
(Dunno how to get rid of the “NOT WORTH IT” up there…really, it can be worth it…I just think the “getting married” is not even the icing on the cake. It’s like the food coloring in the icing on the cake. Just so not what it’s all about.)
and it was good. Good music (XTC, The Smiths, REM, The Police, Psychedelic Furs, U2 when they were still cool), good times.
I grew up in a tiny Indiana town, and now live in the Los Angeles area. And between the village and the metropolis, there is…IU.
A great place to learn, live, grow. I still have recurring dreams of unpacking my stuff in the dorm, excited to start a new school year. If my life here fell apart, I would run like a child back into the arms of Bloomington.
HIGHLY recommended!
I was born and raised on Crown Hill Drive. GREAT place to grow up…GREAT place to leave. There is so much of the world that can’t be experienced (or even understood) from Wabash.
Plus, I’ve heard that it’s kind of gone downhill in recent years.
Good luck!
P.S. Try Bloomington. Great stepping stone to wherever…
I’ve seen Saltimbanco, Alegria, Dralion, Quidam, Varekai. I think I liked Quidam the best—though it’s hard to compete with “the first time.” (Which was Saltimbanco.) That should give you a taste of what kind of experience this is.
You really feel like you’ve been transported to another planet, what with the music, and costumes, and the amazing acts of power and grace. Plus, there’s no “dialogue” in the traditional sense, so what you get is a completely visceral, emotional impact. It bypasses your brain and goes straight to that primitive place inside you that we all share.
If you have a chance to see it, even if it means driving to the big city and staying overnight, you owe it to yourself.
each episode is so full of big moments, major revelations…great music, great acting…it’s the best thing on the tube since “six feet under”
There are some interesting coincidences, to be sure…and I was into it until I relaized that the album has to play through more than twice to match the running time of the movie. Which means that the dramatic arcs don’t really sync. (Coincidentally, I did it using a quadraphonic mix of “Dark Side,” which was pretty coo.)
So maybe it’s just that, as a 40-year-old father of three, my time is limited, but I have to come down on the side of “Not Worth It.” But if you have lots of free time and some decent herb, go for it… :)
