I spent much of my 20’s, 30’s 40’s & 50’s traveling and taking journeys to various parts of the world, and I did it inexpensively because, at those young ages, I wasn’t adverse to roughing it. I spent many a night camping or staying at a hostel or backpackers establishment. I often traveled on the most inexpensive public transportation or even bought a used car and sold it again when my trip was over. Doing it this way, I met a lot of wonderful people who I’d never have known and had some fabulous adventures which I’d never have had if I’d isolated myself in fancy hotels and first-class transportation. I highly recommend this way of travel to others. Don’t wait till you are retired because by then you may not have the energy nor the desire to do the most exciting, risk-taking things. I also recommend trying to live for extended periods of time in different locales. Among the many places I’ve lived and worked were a farm, a sailboat and a log cabin. Most people, unfortunately, measure the success of their lives by the material things with which they end up. That, in my opinion, is a very large mistake. For me a successful life is one that is filled with the doing of things that fill us with pleasure, excitement, love for life, the world around us and other people.
Barbrose doesn't have anything on their life list yet…
