I know it’s only retail and it’s also only a christmas thing, BUT! it’s exactly what i wanted. If they keep me that’s great and if they boot me after the contract is up, that’s even better. :D Glad to be working somewhere i actually believe in the product.
Roll of Thunder, Hear my cry – Mildred Taylor
Wizard of Earthsea – Ursula Le Guin
Hatchet – Gary Paulsen
So I’m a little behind schedule considering it is June in two days, but the list is definitely rolling along thanks to the load of juvenile fiction i have to read for my course. These are all fairly old, so having stood the test of time, they are really quite superb.
They deal with varying themes, and pretty gripping. Maybe because they’re quite easy, but fantastic nonetheless.
Despite having a relatively small debt, in proportion to my income, it was pretty big. I’ve finally gotten rid of that credit card debt, paid my brother back and now i’m free as a bird!
I’m sure this is a recurring goal in life, but i would rather it wasn’t…
Tuesdays with Morrie – Mitch Albom
As a future teacher, this book was somewhat interesting. In the light of this week’s discussion about the cultural construction of teachers, this book certainly adds to the pressure. It was inspirational, a little sad and my faith was certainly highlighted as a i read it. But more than anything else, i considered teaching and what sort of expectations students would have of their teachers having read this book. I’m not too sure it’s changed my life, but it’s definitely given me a lot of things to consider.
Finally cleaned my room. Okay, so i had a friend coming over to stay and i didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable in my sty, so i cleaned up. And not just brushing stuff under the bed, shoving clothes into bottom of wardrobes etc etc, i actually did it properly. I put everything in it’s place, i had vacuumed earlier, so no dust bunnies, i threw out old receipts, garbage, everything i didn’t need.
And now i have a clean room! It’s fantastic! It’s just so nice to come to a clean space and not have to sit amongst piles of my stuff. It’s also easier to catch any bugs since there’s nowhere to hide now… That’s sorta bad though. I hate catching bugs. Ah well, there’s always a downside…
woohoo!
I’m well on my way~ Just vacuumed and in the process of cleaning, but just pausing to have a bit of a gossip and a glass of water. Hopefully i will have cleared this goal in no time at all, yay!
I started this a few times and never got around to finishing it. It’s a pretty disturbing book. It’s a side effort attached to this goal that i finish all my half read books, and that i read most of the books on the high school curriculum. Book #3 isn’t so good for mid-March, but maybe it would be cheating to put down books i already read earlier this year?
After all, i only made the goal recently…
Katherine Peterson – Bridge to Terabithia
A fantastic book and an absorbing read. i remember as a child, the other year 3 class was reading this and i always wanted to take more than a cursory glance at it. It’s an amazing book, not at all what i expected. It’s a lot more like ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ in terms of theme and content. A quick study of course, but it’s been on my mind ever since i started and long after i’ve finished it.
Today was pretty productive in terms of this goal since i’ve cleaned my desk up entirely. Waiting for me is the floor and i think that’s just about it.
Mind you, the floor is nuts right now. There’s boxes of unsorted junk, clothes (clean and dirty), papers, photos, cuttings… you get the picture.
But just looking at a neat desk is more motivation. just gimme till the weekend ^_~
Augusten Burroughs – Sellevision
Short and sweet, i loved it! The humor is quite typical of the American Comic Noir genre, and a gripping read.
