Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

bought good breakfast stuff.

Lots of work hours this weekend. Feeling a bit tired, so I’m trying to take it easy. Like a marathon :) To make sure I can make it till the end.
This week I went to a presentation by a woman who had a burnout a few years ago. She biked to her work on a bio farm 12 kilometres to, and 12 km back from work. And worked all day at that farm. I thought: “Hello-oo, didnt anybody tell you that is impossible for your body to do?”
So now I’m thinking, what’s the 12 km bikeride/farmers workweek in my own life? Working in the weekend, working 7 days a week is one of those things I need to change, I can’t seem to make the decisions to do so. Where to make cuts? How to say no?

My plan

•One or two outings with friends or spouse
Er…
•Some down time for myself at home
I need a lot of quiet time at the moment because my work schedule is crazy. I’ll clean the house on monday so I can relax on saturday and sunday morning.
•Some sense of accomplishment
On friday afternoon, after work, I did weekend groceries (good stuff, yum yum) and I opened up a savings account
•Some exercise
Er…
•Some good food
I just bought: artichokes, pumpkin, bagels, cream cheese and fruit for smoothies

Reasons to be happy

-a tax refund (wow! hiring an accountant sure pays off! I could never have gotten this refund without him)
-I opened a new savings account, so I can save for my new house & save for emergencies etc seperately

Thank you coordinator

I wrote an email to ask for some money that hadn’t been paid out correctly to me.
Today I checked my bank account to find that it’s been paid now. That makes me very happy.

Tears

I cried at my volunteerjob. When I was in a conversation with one of the clients, he was escorted out of the building by a security guard because he is no longer aloud to take part in the project.
It shocked me so much I cried a little when my superior came to talk to me about it. I felt unprofessional and weak but at the same time: I let out what I was feeling, I opened up.

Don't go along with things I don't want
Er...no

I am getting slightly, ever so slightly better at this through the years.
but I’m still not where I want to be when it comes to sayong no & being real and true about that

passion

What are those?
-using rooms in a different way. Like having a coach in the kitchen, sleeping in the living room, having a living room upstairs, a fridge in the living room, a bike in the kitchen, something like that (okay, I understand how that might sound 90’s loft like and bachelor like, but it’s going to be arty and Bente like!)
-books: time and a place to read
-vintage: buy thrift stuff at the store where I volunteer. For so long I have been thinking: now that I work at this store, I can pick out the best stuff that comes in. But untill now I never had any money for it. With the budget that I am saving for I can finally buy stuff for the house!

OK, trying to tiptoe around it but...

I have to cut down on volunteering a little because now when I look at my upcoming schedule there are 7 days a week filled with work & volunteerwork
