Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

go to the Farmer's Market more often
Untitled

Cheaper, fresher, and much better tasting than the grocery store!

If only it was year-round.

Stop watching TV
Untitled

I am WAY less stressed since I stopped watching TV. If news is important enough, I’ll hear it anyway, and I have much more time for hobbies and other fun stuff.

Donate more money to charity
Untitled

I don’t really have a home church, but a couple I go to quasi-regularly. On weeks I don’t make it to church, I give the money I would have tithed to a charity, usually the local food bank or a cancer research, or some other cause I believe in. I get a really good feeling, and I’m never at a loss for calanders.

learn calligraphy (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I had one mini lesson many years ago, and it made me very interested. I’d like to learn more.

visit a Cave
Untitled

Mammoth Cave National Park. I highly highly recommend it!

I had the worst back and arch problems when I wore heels. Never again!

cook more often

I find I have a lot more money since I started cooking dinner myself regularly.

Do NaNoWriMo (read all 3 entries…)

I took the quiz and got a 12. I’ve been making notes today, and so far I have 3 pages full of incoherant ramblings to decifer come next Wednesday.

Untitled

The sleep inertia is not worth it. You just feel even more tired than ever.

arrange to donate my car
Untitled

We donated our car to Kars for Kids. It was really easy, and a huge load off our minds.

Send my Christmas cards to get a special Christmas postmark (read all 3 entries…)
Untitled

I would love to have my family and friends get their Christmas cards with a special postmark from either North Pole, AK or Bethlehem, GA or Santa Claus, IN or something cool like that!

Learn Dvorak
Untitled

This is so much easier on my hands. It took me about 3 weeks to get the letter placement learned. Now I only have to build up speed. I use Dvorak at work and Qwerty at home, so I don’t forget either. It’s tricky, but I’m getting the hang of using both.

Read all Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I love Discworld! Next up for me is Men at Arms.

sleep normal people hours (stop staying up so damn late, and sleeping all day..)
Untitled

It took a few years, but the internal clock CAN be reprogrammed!

Develop a habit of writing every day (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I like writing when I actually do it. I’m not that good at it, but I think I could improve if I made it a habit.

Learn to knit
Untitled

This is very relaxing! Definately my favorite hobby!

Buy a stair stepper
Untitled

I would like to buy one of those compact steppers for my apartment.

Get a library card
Untitled

Libraries are fabulous!

take a belly dancing class. (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I think bellydancing would help ease the pain in my joints and help me feel more comfortable with myself. So far, though, no classes are offered near me.

get a tatoo (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled

I’ve always wanted a small flower on my ankle.
