How I did it: I found a dry branch and using the blade of a regular pairing knife, I scraped the 'skin' off of the wood. On the end that I planned to use as the 'hook' end, I cut a wedge and made the hook. Next, I whittled away excess wood chips so that I could form a fairly smooth hook and point.
