Find someone who will love me unconditionally
I think I've done this.... 19 months ago

the problem is…. I’m not sure if it’ll all work out…

fall in love again
So there's this girl... 19 months ago

I met her at a friend’s party.

We… well, we didn’t so much “hit it off” as we caught each other’s eye.

I have fallen in love once before and it didn’t work out. Ever since then I haven’t been sure about how to approach relationships and love. I had another relationship and it was good, filled with passion, but it just wasn’t the same.

Everything correlating this girl to me could best be described as “coincidental” so there’s no doubt in my mind that it’s fate. However, the question is what kind of fate I’m dealing with. The first time I fell in love with someone, it was much like this. We were drawn together by sheer chance and took a liking to one another and fell in love, did the lover thing, and things just fell apart for us because we weren’t meant to be because fate intended for me to teach her something.

Now, I’m faced with another situation that seems similar but I’m not sure that it’s the same. I’m interested in her and she’s interested in me so there’s no problem there, but I just want to be sure that I’m doing the right thing… I just can’t stand to have everything fall apart again…

Read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
Favorite book ever. 19 months ago

The rest of the series is amazing too.
I don’t even like reading books, but this one is a definite exception.

learn parkour (read all 3 entries…)
Minor update. 19 months ago

Well I haven’t really been able to train much lately, but I DID get a new pair of Ariakes and I have to say that they are an awesome pair of shoes. They absorb shock in an amazing way.

I guess, technically, I can say that I’ve “learned parkour” but since it’s an actual lifestyle choice for me, I can never take it off of my “to do” list.

If you are an up and coming traceur, I’d like to say don’t get the Ariake right off. The Ariake has something I’d like to call “freestyle traction” where it will grip in certain positions and slide in others, more specifically in the toes. The heels, however, grip like tires.

Buy the 69.99 model – it has amazing traction and unbelievable support.

The shoes don’t make you any better at the sport, but they can give you the edge when you’re using your shoes to kick off of a wall to gain ground. They’re also useful in raising your stamina because you don’t feel the shock from the ground like you normally would.

Make my done list longer than my to do list.
Of course, 19 months ago

The irony in adding this to my list is that my to do list is now just that much longer than my done list.

Ah well, I think it’s worth it.

do something crazy
No regrets. 19 months ago

That’s the key.

Don’t care what other people think about you – don’t care what may happen. Just find something you really want to try at least once and do it.

My crazy thing was trying to ride a ripstik down a bridge that goes at pretty much a 60 degree angle to the ground. I made it a third of the way down before I hit a rock and flew off of the board. Thanks to a pair of gloves and some quick reflexes I managed to get away with just a skinned up knee and swollen shin.

Not bad considering I was doing around 30MPH when I had my sudden stop, eh?

No regrets!

have more friends
I'm trying... 19 months ago

to make a few new friends a month.
So far it’s going well.

I provided the entertainment at a friend’s party Saturday and there were some people I hadn’t met before and they all like me so I gained a few friends that night.

My problem isn’t making friends so much as finding good ones and keeping them. The good ones end up leaving or becoming so absorbed with their work or their significant others that I lose significance in their lives… I mean, I’m all for them being happy, but it’s not fair to just kick your friends to the curb, is it?

watch more anime
Mmm anime. 20 months ago

This is one of those “never gonna complete” goals. I mean, you can always watch more anime.

Anyway, I’ve watched quite a few animes in their entirety:

Full Metal Alchemist
Blood +
Death Note
Outlaw Star
Love Hina
Tenchi in Tokyo
Tenchi Universe
Tenchi Muyo
Tenchi Muyo GPX [which actually follows Seina Yamada.]
Devil May Cry
Cowboy Bebop
R.O.D. The TV
Trigun
FLCL

And I’ve seen the first season of Ghost In The Shell: SAC but I can’t get into the second season for the life of me.

Then I also watch Bleach and Naruto as they are released, as they are still ongoing series…

Anyway, I’d like suggestions on what I should take the time to watch next. Death Note was the most recent and I must say I was VERY impressed with how well written, drawn, and voice acted it was. I watch all of my anime in Japanese with english subtitles, so please keep that in mind.

Thanks in advance,
James

Upgrade my computer
Pretty much need to overhaul it... 20 months ago

but really, right now I should focus on replacing the keyboard ‘cause it’s acting up with certain letters and such, and it’s becoming rather bothersome lately.

After that I need:
An 1TB external harddrive [my 320gb is nearly full]
New power supply [my current one is full]
A nice video card [I’d like to hook my computer up to an HDMI port on my new 32” monitor >.>]
And a new processor [which, likely, would require a new motherboard. Maybe I should get that first?]

learn parkour (read all 3 entries…)
Back at it. 20 months ago

I took a month long hiatus just about because my running mate had to take a break due to some issues with his feet. Anyway, we got back to training yesterday and are probably going to train again tonight.

At last check my accomplishments were:
Vaulting something over my head
Becoming a fluent roller
being able to scale 12 foot high walls.

and my goals were:
Be able to do 15 proper pull ups.
50 consecutive push ups.
Become more confident in dive rolling
Be able to perform a somersault.

Currently I can:
Vault 7 feet over my head without foot assistance [that is to say, without kicking off of whatever I’m vaulting]
I’ve become fluent in both rolls AND dive rolls.
I can still clear a 12 foot wall – I need to find out if I can do taller.
I can do 15 proper pull ups when I’m not exhausted.
45 consecutive pushups.

Goals:
Somersault [gotta get that down]
Raise my pain tolerance level again [it dropped while I didn’t train]
Build a bit more muscle.
Be able to dive roll over a 4 foot fence.

Wish me luck.

Watch all Bleach episodes
Bleach is an awesome series. 20 months ago

I watch the releases weekly so I’ve definitely seen every episode lol.. the rest are on my computer. If you download torrents, you can get them from a fansub group called Dattebayo. They also sub naruto, but they do a good job of what they do.

based on the fact that I’m now the two time local champion here…

Bigger prospects? Rock Band.

Just got to expert on the drums tonight :D

watch House MD
Awesome show. 22 months ago

If you can get into it, do it. Both the main plot [involving the patients] and the subplot [surrounding house and his crew] are always intriguing and even comical at times. Not a dumb comedy by a long shot, but it’s something I look forward to every week [even though the next new episode won’t be out until April 28th, bummer]

write a book
I've already started 22 months ago

The ideas flow when I can focus on it, but the thing is right now I don’t have alot of time to sit down and really throw out my chapters and I’ve written little short stories before, and I once was a talented poet, but lately my gifts have been in blogging my experiences. While that doesn’t take a lot of effort, writing a blog that people actually want to READ does :)

I’ve got the first chapter ready, and I’m in the beginning of the second chapter. Wish me luck :)

learn to break dance and pop lock (read all 2 entries…)
I went to the club tonight 22 months ago

and they played a good song that I could break to so I decided to just go for it and there were crowds of people watching and everyone enjoyed it. My friends and total complete strangers gave me props so it was alot of fun. Then I ended up having like, a dance battle with two other guys. There was no clear winner, but it was still alot of fun.

Before I go back to the club, I must learn how to do a windmill and raise my stamina so that I can dance longer – then I’ll be able to say for myself that I completed this goal :)

learn to break dance and pop lock (read all 2 entries…)
it's a childhood dream. 22 months ago

I have always loved breaking even from a small child and I taught myself alot of moves just from watching videos on MTV and BET, but I’ve never been able to do a windmill. Lately I’ve been exercising [never had to because I’ve always been slim] and my upper body strength is really increasing so I’m going to try to learn to do a windmill and then perhaps an airwalk.

Anyone have any advice on how to achieve this?

stop procrastinating
So much to do, so little will to do it. 22 months ago

I have all these things I’d like to do with my life [and if you check my list in a week, you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about] but I can never seem to convince myself that it’s worth getting up to do it except for a few select things. I don’t know, there are things that I NEED to do but I can’t convince myself to do them more than I can convince myself to do the things that I WANT to do.

Any advice?

stop being boring
There's a real trick to it, but it's easy - 22 months ago

Be yourself.

People who are boring are usually boring because they hold themselves back – they don’t say what’s on their mind, and they don’t do the things they think about doing. It’s all about spontenaeity and will. Just stop thinking about what others would think of you for what you think or how you behave, and do them! If you get a sudden urge to sing a song that’s stuck in your head, do it. Some people may find you annoying, but those are usually the people who wishes they were as free as you are.

Now if you don’t do anything, search this site, find some things you’d like to do, and do them. Anyone who does something, is even decent at it, and shares it with others, is automatically interesting.

End of story.
