The Tree that almost ended up in the trash 20 months ago

During clean up around the garden, I spotted a small tree (about 10cm) stubbornly clinging to a crack in a concrete slab, surviving on who-knows-what. I decided to rescue it.
It is an avocado tree, and is doing very well.
