Rilo Kiley will be playing in Richmond Sunday, June 8th, 2008 at “Toad’s Place” and I bought plenty of tickets last night. Enough for daughters and friends plus tickets for me! I’ve been informed I may not drive there with them. Sigh. Teenagers.

waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge .. Warning! ... get a kleenex if you’re going to follow this link … also, there’s sound if you choose to click ‘play’ (but worth it).
These two Jack Russell puppies lived a full life and basically ran the household … Pooter (aka Spot) lived to be 16 (that’s 112 in people years!) and Didi (aka Gigi aka Giovanni, short for ‘Dog Giovanni’) lived to be 18 (126!). Never a dull moment with them around, but snuggle-bunnies they were as well!
Our two ‘replacements’ are also Jacks but came from the “Jack Russell Rescue League.” Adopting them was almost as difficult as adopting kids … we even needed multiple references! Sheeesh. When Harley and Cassie May joined us four years ago as ‘teenagers’ our vet looked them right in the snoots and told them “Do you know you just hit the jackpot?”We do baby our dog. Oh, and Sparkey the mouse has it pretty good too. She just needs a boyfriend, but the thought of that scares me. I just don’t need any more babies right now.
Once they cross the Rainbow Bridge, I think I’ll be done with pets. Time to travel and time for me.
But hey, since I’m a rambler, why not add to it?
I came across a list made long ago … a list of ‘criteria’ or a ‘wish list’ for that special person. They are not in order of importance … and obviously includes “someone who can make me smile and laugh”
- Someone smart and intellectually stimulating, who likes to talk about ideas and doesn’t mind giving me second opinions
- a good person with a big heart, who is kind, loving and romantic
- someone who is courteous, friendly and treats others with respect
- someone who takes care of his professional and financial life (or at least tries to)
- someone who is supportive of my goals and dreams and can be supportive when I am having a rough time or a bad day. Someone who is willing to take support from me in return, who won’t hide or run away when he needs support
- someone who is passionate and has a zest for life
- someone who isn’t fooled by my self-reliance and can see and accept my vulnerabilities
- someone with a strong sense of integrity
- someone who likes to travel and doesn’t mind impromptu diversions and prefers hotels/motels over camping
- someone who enjoys entertaining
- someone who likes to cook
- someone who gets along with my friends and family
- a good lover who can express himself physically and lovingly with consideration and openness
- someone who is committed to the relationship and willing to work on it (should the time ever come when it needs working on)
- someone who might not forget to turn on the light for me when I’m coming home late from a business trip and who might not lock me out
- taller than I am
Well, it’s a start, and it just may be enough
