How I did it: I do Postcrossing so I get the opportunity to send postcards to a lot of different people all around the world. Some people write on their profiles that they would like to have pen pals. I usually asked these people if they'd like to pen pal, and I also wrote that I would like to find pen pals on my own profile. Well, it took a while with some people agreeing to write but never doing it, but I did get the three pen pals I was seeking to c… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I just did it. Sometimes I didn't feel like doing it. Sometimes I made excuses - like it's too cold or I'm too tired, or whatever. But most of the time I made myself go for a walk or jog on those days. I also had my sister with me most of the time. She helped give me a reason to stay on track, and gave me someone to converse with while I walked. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I searched Google for online shops that sell dreamcatchers crafted by real Native American people. I ended up using dreamcatchers-online.com, which I don't recommend because they took forever to send me my dreamcatcher and I had to harass 2co.com (the company they use to facillitate payments) to find out my order was stalled. I'm really happy with my dreamcatcher, but I wouldn't use that site for another one. Read how I did it…

I felt like I had to simplify my goal list and leave the basics up, the things that directly pertain to me and my now and my possible future. I felt bad about this, I felt bad about cutting out doing anything for someone else and even tried convincing myself that the more I give to others the better I’ll be, but I just wasn’t feeling it. How could I give anything when I didn’t have anything? I felt like an empty vessel much of the time, and still do at times.
But I want to work those things back into this list. Things like finding charities that I feel confident giving to, or volunteering. I’m actually set up to go to an orientation at the Humane Society this Monday, so that’s a big step toward doing for others while at the same time doing for me, too. As I’m getting more of me back I’m able to give a little, and hopefully I can assess those goals I’ve abandoned and get back to working on those that benefit others.
Parents that don’t believe you have social anxiety, and want you to discontinue your medication because your sleep schedule is screwed up and they think you’re actually sleeping more, are lame.
I’ll never surrender.
