My goal is 10, which I’m sure will be much easier to attain than 20 at one time. So here we go… Good luck everyone.

“Do you have this?” I asked, raising a quarter stick of unsalted butter as if I were directing traffic. I held it like a trophy, my monumental contribution to this morning’s breakfast.
“It’s already on the table, with the maple syrup” she said.
Resigned, I deposited the quarter stick back in the fridge, pulled some ice from the freezer and dropped the cubes in my plastic cup.
Today we went ice skating. Marina fell down. I helped her get up.
“I can do it myself,” she said.
I let go of her hand just as she was gaining her balance and her feet started sliding on the damp reflective ice. And when her body hit the ice the blade of her left skate flew up and tore through my jeans and pierced my shin.
Pain. Blood. Laughter. Falling down and getting back up. This is a story of all of these things.
