The last couple of months I’ve made some real progress with this goal!! I took the GRE and applied for admission. It may be awhile before I hear something definite, but hopefully by Fall 2010 I’ll be a grad student (part-time). This goal is going to take some time to complete but will be well worth it!!

How I did it: Simply put, I just quit getting my hair cut and only had it trimmed about once every 3 months. I also tried to take vitamins and avoided excessive heat styling. Ponytails became my best friend. Various hair clips and headbands proved very useful in the awkward "growing out" phase. Read how I did it…
So things haven’t happened as quickly as I would have wished for. I have managed to lose approximately 6 lbs…still have a way to go…lol. But I did buy a treadmill about a month ago and try to use it daily…so hopefully this goal will be achieved in a few months :)
I have found a couple of useful free resources on the internet to help me with this quest. The first one is the Daily Plate on www.livestrong.com. It takes into account your body weight, activity level and weight loss goal in order to recommend a daily calorie intake. What I really like about this website is the fact that you can add in the calories burned during exercise and it will readjust your intake for that day. Another site I just discovered is www.caloriesperhour.com. Where you enter in your weight and choose from hundreds of activities and it will estimate the number of calories you have burned. The daily plate has a similar calculator that can be used. Together these sites are great!!
