Fuck this place! We’re moving to Brisbane instead. Can’t make a go of Canberra (small town outside of Canberra, actually). At the risk of inviting a blasting from the other Canberra people on this site (ha! bring it on! do your worst!), I should have listened to our friends back in Sydney, when they said, ‘why would you want to move to that shithole?’. Wise words indeed…

I think this is well on the way, so I’ll tick it off my list of things to do. Had one large eucalypt blow over in the extreme Canberra weather (which was a little embarrassing for some reason) and the dogs still ruin things just as they are getting started – bastards – but all in all, the trees are taking off. this place will be beautiful in couple of year’s time – worth it, for sure!
spinach is so easy to grow! I’ve got spinach, peas and snow peas, and beans at the moment… and a feral pumpkin from the compost. I also splashed out and bought a mulberry tree, some rhubarb and some raspberry canes… its looking good out there. Shame about the drought, though – I don’t water much because using water makes me anxious, so not as rich a harvest as one would like. a good result, though.
