Last night I was finally able to start running again after a week of being sick and then recovering. I new that I probalby wouldn’t be quite up to where I was before and decided to try something different. Instead of running multiple sets of small runs I went for it to see what I could do. I ended up going for 6 1/2 minutes and although that wasn’t ideal, not too bad after being sick.

I had a great run on Wednesday night but then I caught the flu! I was in bed all weekend and today is my first day back in the land of the living. I hope to get back at it soon but know that the next few days I will probably have to conserve my energy and use it to just make it through the day.

Thanks to the flu I read a lot this weekend! It took me a while to really get into vanishing acts but once I did I was really drawn into the characters the larger story. It was definitely an enjoyable read and brought up some interesting questions and issues.

and started Vanishing Acts today. Now that I’m done with Harvesting I can definitely say that it was my least favorite of her books. It’s one of her earlier books so maybe her writing style wasn’t as developed. Glad I read it but definitely prefer others better. Vanishing Acts is starting off nicely.

absolutly loved the concert. I realized that it had been way too long since I’d seen a great concert. I absolutly love music and thoroughly enjoy a good concert. Last night I was able to get tickets for the Matisyahu show on March 20th. We’ll have to see if it’s good enough to be my great concert for the year…

Harvesting The Heart and it’s pretty good. It definitley doesn’t have the depth of some of her others but enjoyable all the same.

I’m not making any progress towards this goal. Not only is there clutter where I can’t see it, there’s now clutter where I can see it. It’s mostly clean laundry waiting to be reckoned with. I can see that i have a busy weekend ahead of me!

Tonight I switched things up a bit and went to the Y with my friend & exercize pal. The change of scenery (from one treadmill to another… LOL) did the trick and I was able to push a bit harder tonight and make it to 5 sets of run 3/walk 1. The good news is that I did 15 total minutes of running which at 4 mph is a mile!!! My first goal is to do a mile without stopping, for me that would be unbelievable because it’s something I always thought I could not do. However, doing a mile this way was pretty great too.

I couldn’t find a mailbox right away so I carried it around all day. Then I proceeded to go home and shred it into a ton of itsy bitsy pieces. Oh well! Maybe I’ll try again and get some more courage.

really did this since I’ve had this goal. Sure, I say hi to strangers all the time but it usally a quick muttered “hi” or “thanks” in passing. Yesterday I took the day off and walked around by the water, really taking time to enjoy life. I saw a nice looking stranger, gave him a warm smile which he returned and we both said hi. It wasn’t a conversation. But, I feel like it was more significant than passing hello’s because it felt more sincere and genuine.

I didn’t record my last two runs partly for time reasons and partly because they weren’t good. I actually fell back a bit in the progress that I made. I got on the treadmill again last night and was able to get back up to 4 sets of run 3/ walk 1. I wanted to do 5 sets but I could tell that it would be pushing my body two far. We’ll try for Wednesday or Thursday and see if I can make it happen.

Okay, so I have had fish n chips before. However, it definitely counts as a “different” food for me. As a rule, I typically shy away from eating fish. However, in the last year I’ve been trying fish more and finding that there are many varities that I actually enjoy. I went to a bar down by the water yesterday during the day to think and journal. The waitress told me that the special was fish and chip and it was actually quite good.

I didn’t actually eat a whole piece just a few bites of my friend’s piece. However, I will count this as trying something new. My verdict? If you’re going to eat cheesecake, eat cheesecake! Don’t mess around with the low calorie/low carb kind. Cheesecake is meant to be enjoyed!

telling myself that I don’t need to avoid fast food because I haven’t “started” this goal yet. Well, enough is enough! I am starting now. I caved in and went through the McDonald’s drivethrough for breakfast this morning. They completely messed up my order and I was so frustrated. Then I realized… “What should I expect, this is McDonalds we’re talking about!!!” I shouldn’t expect excellent service and the food is horrible for me. Enough is enough. As I am going to get started on this goal I will make two clarifications. 1. I don’t count Subway as fastfood. If anyone has any objections, I’d be glad to consider any comments. But, seeing as I don’t ever get anything fried there and 90% of the time get one of the subs with less than 6 grams of fat, I don’t think of it as fast food. 2. If I am put in a situation where I have to go to a fast food restaurant, I will always order a sald with grilled (not fried!) meat or a grilled chicken sandwhich.

You know what…. I certainly didn’t regret not saying them. Yeah! Finally some progress!!!

For valentine’s day my friends and I went out for dinner, got pedicures and finished the night off with ice cream. Not only do my feet look totally cute now but the time spent in the massage chair (while I got the pedi) did wonders for my stress level. I’m going dancing next weekend and have no worries about wearing open toed shoes now. However, I think I’ll leave this goal up a little longer to remind me to keep up with it.

I ordered this at the Macaroni Grill and it was okay. Not bad but definitely nothing too exciting. There was too much sauce and I would have like the sauce to have been a bit lighter.

Since I don’t really like Wal-Mart that much to begin with, once I decided that I shouldn’t be shopping there any more it wasn’t hard at all to stop. My only concern at this point is that I’ve replaced shopping at Wal-Mart with shopping at Target. I need to find if Target is truly a better alternative or if their business practices are just as bad.

1 “Happy Valentine’s Day, you look great in that red sweater!” – (To myself)
2 “I like your shirt!” – (To my co-worker who was wearing a “This Was The Worst Present Ever” shirt on his birthday)
3 “These are delicious. You did a great job!” (To my co-worker on the homemade chocolate covered strawberries she brought in.)
