43 things has been useful to me for a while, but I think I need a break from it. I need to stop chasing after things and wanting more more more and being so external. I need to see what I already have and already am and appreciate that right now instead of running all over the place trying to make my life look like it’s worth something to myself or to an outside observer. I seem to do better with my ‘goals’ if I pay less attention to them, rather than more…at least the ones that matter most, anyway. Recently I have noticed that if my mind knows that is what I really want and I just relax and stop trying to control things and make things happen, I will take care of it almost unconsciously and start doing things that I’ve wanted to do for a long time, little by little. Only happens when I stop fighting myself.

How I did it: I knew I had plenty of things hidden somewhere around my messy room I didn't need, though they would need plenty of digging out. When I saw an announcement at the library that they were doing a town yard sale, I went ahead and bought a table. The yard sale wasn't for a month so I had plenty of time to go through my things and pick out what to sell, borrow a table, find some lawn chairs and tablecloths, etc. It was really good motiva… Read how I did it…
I feel it is about halfway done. I really had no choice as I just bought a mattress. I gave myself a week from when I bought it to be delivered so I would have some pressure but not too much. The delivery is tomorrow evening. I am just about ready. The main things I absolutely have to clean before they come in is the nightstand so they don’t knock everything over, the books on my floor which they could knock over, and all the crap at the foot of my bed and the bits underneath it including vacuuming.
For the past few weeks I have gotten 7 + hours of sleep almost every weeknight.
On the weekends I have been sleeping no more than 9 hours, only going over that a little bit sometimes.
I have started actually being tired for bed around 11:30 and going to sleep about 12:30 every weeknight, sometimes earlier.
I have been able to get to bed no more than 1.5 hrs later on weekends and get up no later than 10am, and this is probably what made the biggest difference. It keeps me in rhythm for the weeknights to ensure that I am actually sleepy at bedtime and wake up easier.
I am confident that this healthy habit has become ingrained enough to call this goal accomplished!
