I had to stop thinking about being in shape as a chore. I hiked the Grand Canyon this summer and saw my body in a whole new way. The training I did was to help me accomplish a goal…not necessarily just to look good. I needed to be strong to survive the hike. When I did it, I felt so empowered! I’ve now rediscovered my love for all things outdoors and have made my “work-outs” based on activities and fun. Also, having a goal definitely helps! I’m doing my first bike race in a few weeks :)

I have accomplished this goal and started spending more time outdoors! I made a commitment to hike the Grand Canyon this summer for charity. The training to prepare has gotten me outside and hiking. It’s been incredible and I feel fantastic!
It’s awesome to get paid (obviously not much) and know that you’re doing something real to help others. I spent two years at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and it was well worth it.
