Things I’ve done and am doing to help the cause…
-I sold my car this summer an am now almost exclusively reliant on bus(most seattle buses run on hybrid energy)and me power
-I am trying to stop using disposable coffee cups and now carry my own mug with me when I’m out.
-My roommates and I started putting compostables in the yard waste bucket.
-I buy recycled toilet paper.
-I started shopping at my local farmer’s market.
Things I could work on:
-Buying less packaged goods.
-Being more vigilant about seperating our garbage from recyclables.
-Curbing electricity use in my houshold (In the fall/winter I’m a big heat freak.)
...I’m sure there are many more but these are some of the biggies.

I participated in a guided 4 day climb in June of 07’. We left from White River and traversed accross Ingrahm and Emmons glaciers. Halfway through our summit bid (at this point the other climbers had turned back so it was just myself and one guide)at about 12,200 ft. I hit a rough patch of ice and my right boot popped off my foot and was swalloed up by a crevase about 1000 ft. below us. I wont bore you with the details of how I got out of the mess…but needless to say I did not summit that day and so I am bound and determined to try again.

I recently read the book “In Defense of Food” by Michael Pollen and since then have really been trying to incorporate more organic, local and wild foods into my diet. I’ve been shopping at my local farmer’s market and things have been going well…hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up!
