I went with a group of students at my university to New Orleans during spring break. We painted someone’s house and gutted another (that hadn’t been touched since the storm). It’s amazing to see the work that still needs to be done and how everyone is dealing with the aftermath of the storm.

My friend Adrienne and I went on a road trip this summer, and on our way through the Ozarks I remembered that the Laura Ingles Wilder historical house was nearby. We stopped in, and it was really cool. They had Pa’s fiddle, along with other things from her books, as well as the two houses looking almost exactly the way they had left them when they died.
