Okay so I am chicken-ing out on taking my 7 year old with asthma to another country in the dead of winter. Moving the trip to summer when it will be less rushed and less likely to end up with us trying for 2 weeks to search out an asthma specialist in some tiny Mexican town where I’ll be totally lost.

How I did it: I got one of my Mexican neighbors to teach me. She went with me to the store, helped me pick out what I needed and came back to my house to show me what to do. We had a great time doing it too! When I make them I pretty much have to make a day of it, it does take a bit time. I've got a recipe kind of written out, but I couldn't tell anyone how much of what to put, only how to tell by the texture and taste how right it is! Read how I did it…
How I did it: It took me years to learn, of course, and I started out with a phrase book and pen and paper. As I got the basics down, I went back to pen and paper, but this time with a dictionary. Any word that I could imagine using in every day language I copied to flash cards that I kept with me everywhere.
