don't be shy
La vie d'une timide

When I was younger, there were only a few people I could talk to without my heart fluttering like a bird, and when I did talk, it was in an almost inaudible voice. So for years I’ve been putting myself in situations where I absolutely have to talk to someone. First, there was New York City with four boys I hardly knew, where I ate at soup kitchens and met the other people who came there. Then there was DC, where I did nearly the same thing, this time a little more free. And now I am in France. A new country for 6 months. I have learned the language, and also how to express myself in a universal language. I can’t say I have completely stopped being shy, actually, a lot of people think that I’m stuck up because I don’t talk to them. It’s not that at all! But just because I have been told this doesn’t make me want to stop being shy for them. Maybe the people who are really worth being friends with are those who make an effort to get to know shy people. This is another thing I have learned and will always keep with me. I want to get to know the shy people, the ones with layers.
