I’m ashamed to admit that I checked Blockbuster to see if they had the New Testament on DVD. And they do – but a long wait. I don’t mean for that to take the place of actually reading, and I have the full Bible on my PDA with a daily breakdown but like many things, it’s being disciplined. I can name ten things I literally could have done instead of some of the things I chose today (well, not really today as I’ve been productive) but you know what I mean. Discipline, discipline, discipline.
On the other hand, when I began the 90 Day Challenge (http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/readingplans) online, it couldn’t be any easier than sitting in front of my pc, selecting the version I want to read in, and go. Many tweeted that they’d read several days in one sitting, and I’m not saying that’s bad, but I’m not trying to speed read the Bible. What would be the point of that? I even bought a program and have it installed with all the Study Notes, now that’s great. It’s not enough for me to read it, but to get understanding from it, so I’m reading both the notes which explain the context AND the Bible. I may not be the most disciplined, but I certainly attempt to take an educated approach.
I’ll keep this updated.
So, this is on my list again, and by Christmas I want this one completed.
