impressions

Nothing like wanting to impress a cute boy to motivate a girl to work out. ;) I ‘m finding ways to squeeze in a 10 minute cardio dance routine on my lunch breaks and before church. I’m trying to work out at least once a day and hopefully it’ll pay off. Of course, I want to be healthy and energetic, but said cute boy is additional motivation. :)

Hands Down, The most fun EVER!

Went to Camp Jitterbug on Memorial Day weekend. 3 days and four nights of Lindy Hop! SO much fun! I met a lot of new friends and got to dance with people from everywhere! Also, the Swedes were my favorite, so I’ve decided I’m moving to Stokholm! haha Well, I would like to visit, anyway. :)

Go to the dentist (read all 2 entries…)
so expensive!

Well, I got a build up for my crown this week. It wasn’t that bad. I’m just glad I don’t have to have a root canal!! I also have several small cavities we’re going to take care of before they start decaying. Not happy about the $3,000+ price tag, but I’m happy my dentist worked out a payment plan with me.

again I fail.

I went so far as to buy a frame and special paper to make a drawing for ArtsWalk, but found that I didn’t have time to do it. I’m still going to work on the drawing soon, and I’m hoping to make at least three pieces to show in the Fall.

Save $1000 (read all 4 entries…)
A good start

I took $500 from my tax return to open a savings account. I added $50 from my last pay period and should be able to steadily grow my account to $1,000 over the next few months. First step in Dave’s Baby Steps plan is to save $1,000 in an emergency fund. I never quite finished this step, so I’m really excited to get there. I’m SO sick of this debt!

done

Took $500 from my tax return to start my emergency fund. Next on the agenda is to grow it to $1,000. :)

get out of debt (read all 18 entries…)
I'm breaking up with my debt.

So I keep trying to end my relationship with Debt, and it just won’t LEAVE!! Doesn’t it understand I don’t love it? This is an unhealthy relationship and I think it’s best if we just separate for good! I don’t want to break it gently because that doesn’t seem to work. I just want to get it over with. Quick like a Band-Aid.

DONE!

Okay, looks like I need to fill out my w4 differently. I’m getting a big fat check back, which I LIKE, but I’d rather have the money during the year. I let the government borrow almost $1,000 from me interest-free. Why am I not USING that money, instead? That’s just silly!

war wounds

I got my first injury today from my saw! haha My hand slipped and the saw bounced up and hit me in the face!!! Fortunately it didn’t get my eye and wasn’t a very deep cut. Now that I passed my initiation, I think I’ll be able to play better. haha

free passes!

A friend gave me two free passes because they had to be used this month and she was unable to go. Coincidentally, I had PTO that had to be used this month or I would lose it. I took tomorrow off work and I’m taking my friend who just got back from spending 5 months working overseas. We are driving to Seattle tomorrow morning. :) We’re hitting the museum, and then probably the Market. (I need some more tea from Market Spice) YAY for free stuff!!! and fun with friends!!!

Untitled

I bought a lovely sheet of navy blue paper a couple of nights ago and a frame for my completed drawing. I’m planning on using black and white (mostly white) charcoal. Hopefully it will turn out as amazing as I am envisioning in my mind. I haven’t drawn in a few years, so I may be a little rusty. :P

I keep forgetting to file my taxes, so I made it a goal. :)

clean my room (read all 2 entries…)
UH OH

Obviously, I never wrote more about this goal. I’ve cleaned my room since I’ve started to goal, but it has NEVER been absolutely clean. It’s always so CLUTTERED! Right now it looks disastrous! Again, mostly craft supplies. SO, I’m working on it and HAVE to do it because I’m having a yard sale May 8th and need to get together stuff to sell. :) I put on some music last night and cleaned for the length of my CD. I’m going to do the same today. If I commit to cleaning for the length of an entire cd and then take a little break it helps, since it’s such a big project it’s overwhelming. At least with my music method, I’m taking it one chunk at a time. I also have some Dave Ramsey podcasts to catch up on, so maybe I’ll listen to those as well.

okay, try again.

WHY is this such a hard thing for me to do? I don’t have very much money. Less money = less time distributing it in a budget. It’s not that difficult. haha Okay, I’m going to work on this TODAY.

Participate in ARTS WALK (read all 4 entries…)
It's that time AGAIN!

How do I let so much time pass without doing ART?!! Tonight I bought a lovely sheet of navy blue paper. I’m going to do a white and black charcoal drawing on it, and hopefully it will be completed in time for Arts Walk at the end of April. :)

lindy hop (read all 2 entries…)
getting better

I just wrapped up my 3rd 4-week series of classes and am starting to feel a little more confident. Tomorrow I’m taking two workshops for Oly Swing Jam, and this Tuesday my instructor is having a special Intermediate/Advanced Lindy Basics class. There is another 4 week series in April for Intermediate Lindy combos that I plan on taking. With all the new moves I’m learning, I should be able to dance decently for Camp Jitterbug! :) Now I just need to get in some practice! I only have a couple of people who Lindy with me, so finding someone to practice with on the dance floor is challenging. :P

learn to play the musical saw (read all 3 entries…)
and so it begins

I’ve wanted to learn how to play a saw since I saw Sigur Ros play at the Ryman Auditorium. I FINALLY broke down and made my musical saw purchase and my saw arrived TODAY! YAY!!! I read a lot about it, so I understand the concept, but actually DOING it proves trickier than I imagined. I also don’t know the first thing about how much rosin to use on a bow and how much to tighten it, so this evening was a great learning experience for me. My Friday night consisted of a lot of Youtube videos to figure out how to use the bow! I tried the saw a bit and got a LOT of screeching, but did manage to get some notes out, too. :) I’m hoping I’ll get the hang out it soon!
