When I started working toward this goal four and a half months ago, I don’t think I really thought I could do it. But the weight on my driver’s licence really does actually match the number that showed up on my scale this morning! It took a lot of stubborn will (not to mention hours at the gym, treadmill, and exercise bike), but I did it and it feels so good to have a medically healthy weight. If anyone needs me, I will probably be out shopping for new clothes since practically nothing I have now fits me properly! :)

When I first added this to my list of things, I really thought it was more of a dream. It is amazing, though, how great the power of adding/doing one thing at a time can be. When I started my weight loss goal two and half months ago, I did one thing: give up soda (it has now been 75 days since my last Coke/Dr Pepper/Mountain Dew). Three weeks later, I had lost 5 pounds. Then I started doing 30 minutes daily on my exercise bike. Then 45. Then 60. Then sometimes 90 minutes from time to time. Then I got some instruction from a personal trainer, and now I have added regular weight training to my routine. Fifty days into exercising 6 days/week, I have now lost a total of 18 pounds, only 7 away from my overall goal of 25. According to the BMI chart, I am only 4 pounds away from being back inside a healthy weight for my height. It feels so good to have made this much progress and for my goals, once thought outlandish, actually to be within reach.
After 52 days, I am half way to my goal of losing 25 pounds. I started by giving up soda, and I still can’t believe that I haven’t had a drop of Coke, Mountain Dew, or Dr Pepper in 52 days. About a month in, I started an exercise bike routine, and am now up to about 60 min a day. The more I lose, the more motivated I am to continue my progress. My hope is to make it to my goal of 170 lbs (the weight listed on my driver’s license) by the beginning of September. When I first started this journey in mid-March, I frankly doubted whether I could do it. But now I think I can. :)
