Am now 1 year and 5 days a non-smoker! Gave up on Christmas Day 2007 and although I KNEW a few months in that that was it for me, I am still thrilled to have made it to a full year. I have saved (hmm..wish I could find it now!) around £1060, which is not to be sneezed (or coughed!) at..
I did it ‘cold turkey’ (well, it was Christmas..)and used self-talk to manage the cravings (i.e. told myself to SHUT UP! and stop sabotaging myself). My only advice to those who have given up; I think I have said it before – NEVER, EVER think you can have ‘just the one’! You will be on the B&H again within days and it will be all over for another few years! Keep going, it is so worth it..

1. For opportunity to rest this morning.
2. For chat with D and opportunity to connect; extending the family bonds is good.
3. For feeling totally in love, even though I am getting way ahead of myself! Must chill..
4. For being at home and thus able to cook up some delish samosa filling for D’s party tomorrow – they are gonna be fab.
5. Being able to see my niece every day. Now that she’s getting older, it is more important that I am there to fill in the gaps.

1. For making it to the shops and finding some new clothes for work, despite feeling extremely mashed from overexertions yesterday. I am not yet back to normal, I realise, but I have to test myself to know..
2. For L’s good advice; I acted on it and it led me out of the gloom and back into equilibrium. I need to learn to stay here.
3. For seeing my brother – he is sunshine.
4. Harry’s compliment – means a lot and I shall hold onto it.
5. For the bank refunding my stolen money in record time.
