Have just come back from 10 days all-inclusive fabulousness in Barbados!! Lucky, lucky me.. Worth every penny, and the knowledge that I will be skint for the next 6 months paying off the credit card but I don’t care! Jumping the big waves for 7 hours solid on my brother’s birthday was just the best fun. Have realised that I am a creature of the sea, and should’ve been raised in California or Sydney; I would’ve been a surfing queen! The Thames not so good for that stuff..Had a big time, and am now committing myself financially to at least one holiday a year and am calling that a ‘commitment to living’!. Another rum punch, please, barman..

Gosh, doesn’t time fly..! Since last entry two years ago, have been caught up with some major life changes, and my health continued to take a back seat. Ended up weighing my heaviest in years – 218lbs! Appalling.. So, in April, I took myself in hand. I had cancelled my expensive gym membership as I never went, and although my sis had had some good results since she took up running, the thought of that just didn’t do it for me. I looked back to the only exercise I had ever enjoyed in my life (way back, as a teenager!) – dance training. I bought several excellent ballet workout and dance-type dvds and got started. So far, I have dropped 31lbs and feel, and look, a thousand times better already. My aim – to drop another 40lbs by the end of the year.
Am now 1 year and 5 days a non-smoker! Gave up on Christmas Day 2007 and although I KNEW a few months in that that was it for me, I am still thrilled to have made it to a full year. I have saved (hmm..wish I could find it now!) around £1060, which is not to be sneezed (or coughed!) at..
I did it ‘cold turkey’ (well, it was Christmas..)and used self-talk to manage the cravings (i.e. told myself to SHUT UP! and stop sabotaging myself). My only advice to those who have given up; I think I have said it before – NEVER, EVER think you can have ‘just the one’! You will be on the B&H again within days and it will be all over for another few years! Keep going, it is so worth it..
