I spent an hour and a half (maybe more) speaking French with my friend’s parents two weeks ago and they were terribly impressed with my accent and vocabulary. I played the flute with piano accompaniment for over 1,000 during a posh dinner fundraiser. I have never had so many compliments in my life and some were from musicians. I now feel like maybe I’m not as bad as I thought I was.
I am looking into local outlets for amateur musicians.
Anyway, if that dinner event was the peak of my musical career I can still be happy.
When someone says, “Oh let me hear something” or “Do you play?”, I go to the piano and I play and I sing. I know that these people are not judging me harshly because they care about me. They’re all compliments and this is building my confidence so that I can later play for strangers. In the meantime, I’m taking advantage of each opportunity that presents itself. I’m already seeing improvements…
