Just Notice When You Are! 23 months ago

If you try too hard at it, you’ll loose it. I’ve been studying both “The Secret” (AKA the Law of Attraction) and Buddhism- two very complementary systems that try to teach mindfulness about where you are and where you want to be.

We all want to be happy- more content with our lives. I think the trick is to really notice when you are and when you’re not. What’s odd about that is when we are not content, we feel we need to confront it- wrestle with our baddies, when we can just notice them and let them go.

We can! My thing is that it MiGhT be easier to notice and release the discontent than to hold onto it and disect it. Take a few days and try it out!

But be sure to notice when you are at peace, content, HAPPY! it’ll be good just to notice when you are. And if it does not look like it’s that often, see what you can do to make it regular.

What happened to me, today, was that I noticed I felt a little empty and kinda blah. Normally, I’d want to change that and do something- eat something or watch TV or Read. But I went in a different direction and just sat with it for a minute or two. It wasn’t so scary anymore. It was kinda nice to just be… Empty, alone, there. Just to notice the moment with no seeking to correct it.

That was a nice moment.

become a geisha
I'm in a Gion State of Mind... 1 year ago

That’s what I think being Geisha is- when you’re not Asian and you only have so much access to the Geiko lifestyle. It’s a place you put yourself that no one else need know about.

I own a book called “Acting Techniques for Everyday Life.” And it teaches you how you can take on the character, thusly enhancing your own self (the image you have for yourself along with the image you present,) of- say- movie characters you admire. I sometimes take what I understand of Geisha and try to apply some of the techniques from this book.

I might be able to hold it for an hour, maybe a couple of days, but it helps me present myself as I like and it helps me crack the shell I put up around myself.

And Geisha are quite charming people, so go on with yo’Geisha self! Its fun when you play with it a bit. For example, the book suggests “Props” to help you remember your role and how you want to present yourself in given situations. I sometimes think “Corset.” Which, in my mind, refrences the Geisha Obi sash/belt that gives them their perfect posture and grace. Or, when the weather is good, my sandals sometimes do the trick.

Think of ways to Be Geisha in your own way. A Trip to Kyoto might not be feasible and the nearest Chinatown might not have what you’re seeking- so create it for yourself!

have a one night stand
It's not like its Not worth doing! 1 year ago

It does affect your life, but I recommend doing it ONLY when you need a self-esteem boost… and when you’re not in a relationship.

I had mine about three months out of a six year relationship- I was kinda looking for something like it. And, as the Law of Attraction goes, ask, believe, receive!

It was okay, I was a bit bigger than my beau- but he was rather enthusiastic, so I couldn’t say no!

It was fun, kinda!

I wouldn’t mind another, but the circumstances have to be good- ever do it on an empty stomach? Don’t do it when you’re depressed! :}
