The wife and I are exploring all options as I plan to separate from the military in October of 2010. Hawaii seems to be the most inviting one to me. Although it is a long way off it gives us plenty of time to plan this move by buffing up our savings account. If we do this I will attend UH full time with assistance by the post 9/11 GI bill which will cover 100% of tuition and fees. Additionally it will also provide us with a monthly living allowance of 2200 per month for 36 months / 4 years of school. My wife will work full time in our first year to gain residency for in-state tuition rates, and I will join the Hickam guard / reserve so I get in-state tuition rates from the get go. This will also allow us to shop on the commissary and bx which will help save money. It looks like we will be able to get away with buying a small palce close to the UH campus anywhere from 800-1200 dollars/month, so really the only question mark is what kind of jobs we will be able to land. I spent my time in the military as a weather forecaster which isn’t very marketable on the outside and my wife has worked jobs such as disney, front desk at a hotel, and a cashier. We have plenty of money in savings, but just because we have it doesn’t mean we want to burn through it trying to survive in Hawaii. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

For the longest time I have had this goal, and I just accomplished it yesterday. At 165 lbs, I finally managed to put up 200 unassisted. I haven’t tried to max out in quite some time and I actually felt like I could get up a little more, but I was so happy with this number that I stopped there.
My advice to those of you trying to do this is to mix up your chest exercises. Don’t limit yourself to standard bench pressing only. Use dumb bells for stability, decline, and incline. Also stop drop and do some pushups a couple of times throughout the day. Throw some low weight high rep lifts into the equation and you will reach your weightlifting goals before you know it. Just keep at it!
as long as I bring a fresh pair of boxers with me that I could find it in me to make this one happen eventually. This looks like a blast!
