A beautiful place, still working hard to overcome a tragic history and troubled present, but with much hope for the future.

Lovely, my trip was too short. I loved Hanoi, which was cool, misty, and full of amazing little lanes, alleys, and side streets. Didn’t care as much for Saigon, which reminded me of LA—more cars, more sprawl, etc.
Love the little ice cream joints and coffee shops on all the sidewalks, with itty-bitty little stools. Don’t go when trying to quit smoking—they smoke as much and as ubiquitously as the Chinese. Local cigarettes are really cheap, sometimes quite good.

Had it once, in rural Thailand (a non-dog eating country except in tribal and a couple of remote areas). Tough and not that tasty. Buffalo was better.
