Quit Smoking (read all 24 entries…)
12 week check-in 2 days ago

So far, I have spared myself 1260 cancer sticks (63 packs) and have saved upwards of $410. I love doubling those numbers up to see what my boyfriend and I have accomplished as a team! Together, we have saved $820 and, as of yesterday, we have avoided over 2500 cigarettes.

- Only 6 days left until the 90-day milestone!
- 8 days left until the 3-month mark!
- Just 19 more days until my boyfriend and I will reach the point of having saved over $1000 together!
- I am almost half of the way toward considering this goal complete!

Wow, and to think that it still feels like I just started a few days ago… :)

Just checking in 1 week ago

Today it has been 11 weeks! I have spared myself roughly 1155 cancer sticks and have personally saved over $375. Together, my boyfriend and I have saved ourselves from buying more than 116 packs.

My main strategy has been to never forget that it is absolutely impossible for me to have “just one.” In the few recent moments when I’ve wondered if I could have just one, I’ve asked myself, would I still want a cigarette if, in order to have one, I was required to smoke 20 of them back to back? Would I still want a cigarette then? No, after two and a half months of no smoking, the thought of demolishing an entire pack makes me want to vomit. Then I remind myself that one cigarette will turn into smoking the entire pack, whether it’s in a matter of hours or of days. The idea of ever smoking 15 a day again revolts me so much! So I’m staying strong. :)

Also, the encouragement I’ve gotten here on 43things has been invaluable. Thank you to everyone for the kind advice and support you have shown me.

Our reward this week is to order out for dinner! Man, we love to reward ourselves with food now that we can taste everything. Note to self: Need to follow through and make good on some of the rewards I promised myself earlier in this process. :)

Today is Day 70! We are going for a walk and out for lunch to celebrate. :)

I have avoided 1050 death sticks and saved around $350. That means that, together, my boyfriend and I have spared ourselves 105 packs and have saved roughly $700 together. I don’t quite believe it myself!
