However after some searching I was able to find a service software from the manufacturer, which revived it.

I set up everything so I could wipe the disk from my old ‘puter. Now I can take the components to the basement first and recycling later.
It’s been so cold, esp. with the wind, that there are actually weather warnings, to avoid being out walking if you can. So I’ll wait, hopefully not too long, until it gets bearable again.
