I got my cello today! I’m renting one, but may end up purchasing it later. I practiced for about three hours, and made my way through “Strictly Strings, Bk 1: Cello”. Having prior musical experience of course helped. I think I’ll get some more theory books and exercises, and then tackle some pieces. Very exciting! I have been wanting to do this for a long time.

I’m borrowing a violin right now to get better with my bowing technique, which will no doubt be useful when I finally get a cello. I’m not any good yet, but I’m getting better slowly. The cello is so romantic…I love it and want to learn.

I’ve taken one semester so far, and I have the kana and some kanji down. I can understand a fair amount of spoken Japanese and grammar, but I need more practice reading and writing, so I am focusing on that right now.
