How I did it: I studied it at university, then spent 7 years writing C++ in industry before moving onto a higher level language. The only people who need to use C++ these days are device-driver authors, OS developers and quants. For every 20 lines of C++ you will need just a single line of C#, the libraries are so rich.Don't waste your time, skip straight to .Net or Java there's way more demand for staff with those skills. When reflecting, who hasn’t said ‘if only I knew then what I know now?’
Well I’ve made a lot of mistakes throughout life and learnt from most of them.
I hope to pass on some of this wisdom to my children in the form of a book (not a dull memoir). Hopefully they can wise-up without the pain of mistakes.
