Living in the UK and having my family in the USA, I think I already do this without even thinking about it but I have always wanted to be more mindful of it. I think living far away you do tend to do it more than if you were living close to your loved ones.

When I moved to the UK a year and a half ago, I chose to leave my cat behind in America. This was not easy but it really didn’t seem fair to put her through the trauma of the plane ride, the move, etc. I don’t regret leaving her as she has a wonderful new home but I really really want another cat. I’d like to adopt one missing an eye or something, a down right moggy that needs love.

I’ve been here in the northeast of england for a year and a half now and while it was hard and is still lonely at times, I don’t regret it for a minute. I think everyone should move away from their home for awhile. It really helps you take a long hard look at yourself.
