I did it in an afternoon but basically the same … I wasn’t even intending to do it when I set out. It was just to climb Mt Beerwah, but after finishing that (for my 4th time), I decided I might as well do the 43 Things goal!
About halfway up Tibrogargan the sun was getting low on the horizon and I was getting worried about the return trip down, but it all turned out well! It took 45 minutes to get from the carpark to top of Tib and another 45 minutes for the return trip.
Photo is of Mt Beerwah (left) and Mt Coonowrin (right).

The goal is to climb the four most interesting of the Glass House Mountains in one day, from easiest to hardest:
- Mt Beerburrum
- Mt Ngungun
- Mt Tibrogargan
- Mt Beerwah
This is a total of just over 1000m of vertical climbing. (I’ve checked this on a topographic map of the area).
I’ve climbed all four but never in the one day.

I’ve done this one twice in the last week. I went with an experienced person the first time and the second time I did it by myself.
Definitely go with someone who has done it before for a first time. There are a few tricks to getting up and getting down which aren’t obvious.
People get rescued from this mountain every couple of weeks. Usually due to leaving it too late in the day, getting caught in the rain and being unprepared. (people have been rescued after setting out wearing just thongs (flip flops) and shorts an hour before sunset – don’t be an idiot!) If you have a mobile phone, take it!
Never do it within a day of raining – the rocks are very slippery and you need good grip on the rocks.
Coming down it can be easy to take the wrong route (as many have done before and caused a worn path to the wrong direction!).
I went from the capark to the summit in 40 minutes the second time, but allow lots of time if it is your first go.
