Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

74. Cartoons from my childhood

I was a bit of a tomboy so I loved things like He-man and She-ra or Thundercats or or TRansformers or X-men!! OH and I love the movie remakes – Sweeet!!

73. Book browsing

Libraries and second hand bookshops especially, but I’ll always be drawn to books no matter where I am

72. Reminiscing

I travelled a lot growing up as an army kid, so you never had the same friends for long. When my stepdad left the army I felt a little jealous of people who had been friends since they were in the womb and could look back over a lifetime of friendship. So it’s lovely now to have been in the same place for long enough to be able to have those shared memories with others.

71. Breakfast Radio

Very silly but it’s an unusual day when I don’t get at least one smile out of the Nova Brekkie Show on the way to work. Best way to start the day :)

70. People's "how we met" stories.

Every couple has a unique “how we met” story, I especially love hearing them for the people I love, and are still happy and in love. And to see the personal connection people when they relive the story through telling you is lovely.
MY story obviously puts all others to shame – should be a movie :)

69. Cheesy Beanos

I love baked beans. My favourite meal is sausage chips and beans. But when I first moved in with my DH the only thing I could make was cheesy beanos (beans on toast with melted cheese on top). Obviously my culinary skills are a wee bit better now, but cheesy beanos is still a pure comfort food favourite.

66. Starting something new

I tend to be an all or nothing person with new stuff. The enthusiasm you feel when you start a new project, or getting sucked into a new project and being consumed by it.

65. Hotel rooms

Having an overnighter away in a hotel. We always book somewhere quite fancy – preferably with a big spa. Ordering room service, checking out the pay for view movies and basically vegging out. Works almost as well as a mini holiday.

64. Getting "proper" mail / emails / cards

Gettin proper letters, juicy gossipy letters or emails from friends and family.
And I love cards – a little something to show someone has made the effort to go to a shop and look for a card they think you’ll like. Doesn’t have to cost a fortune to show a little love :)

63. GSOH

I love that my DH and I have the same stupid childish, fart joke, slap-stick sense of humour. It reminds me that even if there appears to be so many surface level differences, that we can always make each other laugh. That we are good mates as well as husband and wife.

62. "Accurate" Personality Quizzes

I love feeling like you’re getting an insider pass to your friends, family, co-workers, and yourself with personality quizzes. Generally a load of crap but sill fun. And if you can have a “that’s SO me!!” moment – all the better…

61. Friday's

Love Fridays. They even make Thursday’s pretty good cos then it’s nearly Friday! We always have casual Fridays – something so childishly sweet about going to work in jeans. Friday is my one day I buy lunch, and we have a staff meeting that generally ends in a few wines. So the whole day is generally pretty cruisy. And I love Friday nights. The anticipation of 2 days off (oh and if it’s before a long weekend it gains 33% enjoyment level), having plans on Friday night or not – it doesn’t matter! Cos TFIF!!!!

60. Being Home Alone for the weekend

Now don’t get me wrong – I’d hate for this to be a regular occurance, but about once every 6 – 12 months the boys will organise a trip away for a long weekend. DH seems to think I”m being all nice and obliging by never complaining about him going. Little does he know I LOVE these free weekends!! I have a whole routine worked out.
Starts out with a major cleaning session. I need the house to be all clean and tidy so I can relax.
Next: head to the DVD shop and hire a TV box set (see Happy # 59), buy a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine. If necessary also buy bubble bath and a face pack.
Settle into a hot bubble bath with a face pack, favourite CD blaring, a glass of wine and favourite book. Followed by takeaway for dinner, pj’s and the doonah on the lounge and mega DVD session. And thats prety much where I stay for the next 24 hours – usually until about an hour before Dh gets home :)
Absolute Bliss!!

59. Box sets

Love tv show box sets! To the point where I will purposely NOT watch a show week in week out so I can go and hire it to watch in one juicy chunk on a rainy long weekend.

58. Girls time

Doesn’t matter what you doing, but preferably something totally frivolous like a bottle of wine, uge bar of chocolate and a chick flick, or a long lunch and shoe shopping. Something that is made all the better for sharing it with a girlfriend.

57. Jelly

I eat jelly every workday. I have low sugar jelly with low fat yoghurt – a whole tub equals around 90 cals. It’s great on the calorie intake and it feels like such a treat!! My little inner child moment every day :)

56. Going to the Hairdressers

My hairdresser is the slowest in history. I can go for a cut and colour and be there for 5 hours. But somehow I don’t mind – I read dodgy celeb mags and have never ending cups of coffee and biscuits, and chat about rubbish…all part of the process. PLus been goign to my hairdresser for 10 years so I can ask what forwhat I want, she’ll totally disregards it and do what she thinks and it always turns out great ;)

55. Dodgy American sitcom / comedies

That 70’s Show, Friends, Will & Grace, Dharma & Greg, Everyone Loves Raymond…. No better way to kill 1/2 hour than mindless crap tv :)
