So ya, guess I’m writing here cuz I too changed my name. Changed it to Kaitlyn (Katie for short) after 20 agonizing years of being called a boys name, getting mail through addressed to “mr” instead of miss, having the name spelled wrong all the time, teachers at school asking me if i was SURE that that was my name(ya know just incase i got a slight memory lapse) i shall not write what [that name] was as I cannot bear to sear, hear, or bring myself to write it, THAT is how bad it eventually affected me.
Most americans wouldn’t think badly of it, but in england, it’s not exactly very common, and the english being english and proper, doesn’t work. it’s cruel and wrong and contributed to years of major unhappiness. so u all think “it’s only a name” not to me. a name doesnt change who i am inside, but the way people treat u because of a name affect who u are, i was always the odd one out.. i never felt like a real girly girl cuz of [that name]
and im sure you’ll all know how agonizing it is for people to say “oh that’s such a lovely name” never say that to anyone with a weird name, ever. it makes them wana run off and cry feeling two inches tall, especially if u get a “heh” response from them. seriously, its the last thing someone wants to hear. SURE it’s a lovely name(not)....just as long as it’s not theirs.
